Claire Ackerman, Main & Core

Dear Matt Stager Scholarship Committee and WASDA members,

Thank you for your financial generosity and time donated to the scholarship applicants and recipients. I am honored to have received the Matt Stager Scholarship. During my time at Jefferson High School in Festus, MO, I was Class of 2018 President and was involved in National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Student Council, Character Summit, Anti-Bullying Committee, concert band, jazz band, Jefferson College Jazz Ensemble, and St. Louis Big Band. I received many academic awards and music honors, including being an All-State Band member. I have also volunteered at the YMCA and my church. I plan to attend Drake University in Des Moines, IA and double major in Music Business and Management with hopes of becoming an operations manager of an orchestra.

Again, thank you for your financial award.

Justin Peirce, H.R. Prescott & Sons

My name is Justin Peirce, I graduated from Nashoba Regional High School and I live in Bolton MA. I am attending Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster PA next fall. I love to play basketball and look forward to continuing my basketball career in college. As for as what I am going to study, I am undecided at this point. I am looking forward to exploring subjects like biology and perhaps going pre-med. I am also interested in taking business related classes to see if that is something I would like. I am very grateful for the opportunity WASDA is providing me by helping me further my education.

Thank you,
Justin Peirce

Alissa Reichard, Trumbull Industries

Hello, I am Alissa Reichard. I am a graduate of Niles McKinley High School and also one of my class’s valedictorians. Throughout high school, I have been a part of the soccer team, marching, symphonic, and pep bands, Future Educators of America Club, Key Club, Spanish Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, National Honors Society, and Students for the Environment. Outside of school I would do tutoring which has validated my future plans to be a teacher. I am attending Ohio University in the fall to study integrated mathematics education which will allow me to become a high school math teacher. I am very passionate about math and am excited to pursue the subject at the next level. I am a part of the Ohio University Patton College of Education Honors Program which contains rigorous courses involving collaborative research projects. This program will allow me to be challenged, and I couldn’t be more excited for what my future holds at OU.

Natalie Scigliano, Western Water Works Supply Company

My name is Natalie Scigliano and I am incredibly honored to receive the Matt Stager Memorial Scholarship.  This fall, I will be attending the University of Portland School of Nursing to receive my bachelors degree. In college, I hope to pursue studying abroad in Austria, intramural sports, clubs such as the snowboarding club, student government, as well as internships. I am quite ecstatic to be studying in a state with so many opportunities to explore the outdoors as I am eager to discover the hiking trails, waterfalls, and ski slopes that Oregon has to offer. After college, I plan on working as an emergency room and trauma nurse and eventually traveling to other countries as a travel nurse and administer medical assistance where it is greatly needed and help those who are suffering from disease, malnutrition, or lack of medicinal resources. I would like to extend my deepest gratitude towards the WASDA association for this scholarship and I cannot wait to see where this fantastic journey of college takes me.
