Advocacy - Government Relations

  • Trillions of dollars. Six billion gallons a day. $625 billion. If you do not know what these numbers mean for our industry, you should.
  • Fresh water is a scarce commodity. The infrastructure that supplies it is severely aged or simply broken in several communities and cities throughout the U.S.
  • Be part of Building America Better. Educate you and your team members on the facts, and become an Advocate for our industry.
  • Join us for the annual WASDA Washington Summit.

Washington Summit

The WASDA Washington Summit is an annual "fly-in" where waterworks profesisonals can connect with government officers, Representatives, Senators, and key officials on U.S. Capitol Hill. WASDA Members recently attended the 3rd Summit in Washington, DC. Zack Perconti, WASDA Director of Government Affairs, equipped attendees for their appointments through a full-day briefing. Click here for a copy of Zack's presentation.

What is WASDA? Each year, our Summit attendees tell the industry's story and educate USGOs on the waterworks industry. This year, WASDA Members identified three critical issues that informed conversations on The Hill. All WASDA members can review the corresponding FACT SHEETS for continued conversations with not only USGOs but also with local officials in their communities and municipalities.

ISSUE FACT SHEET
FUNDING: Ensuing sufficient funds for critical waterworks projects in the face of growing national needs; building on IIJA and reauthorizing EPA State Revolving Funds, WIFIA, and other key programs through FY 2031; preserving annual appropriations for SRF programs. America’s Water Infrastructure Needs – Beyond IIJA
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT: Workforce shortages and development solutions for training the next generation of waterworks professionals – addressing the looming crisis of anywhere from one third to one half of water infrastructure workforce’s retirement eligibility within next ten years (WIOA reauthorization, Workforce PELL, and Water Infrastructure Specific Grant Programs).

Developing The Water Infrastructure Workforce

PERMITTING REFORM: Getting water infrastructure projects moving faster to better meet community needs. Regulatory Reform: Building Better, Faster Water Infrastructure
