The WASDA Scholarship Fund Board of Directors proudly awards the following students with $1,000 to use toward higher education! Each scholarship is renewable for up to four years based on maintaining a 3.0 GPA (or higher). The Recipients of the WASDA Scholarship for 2023 are listed below:
Luke Dearborn, American Cast Iron Pipe Co.
My name is Luke Dearborn. I attended Rockwall High School where I was involved in lacrosse and football, and recognized as a lacrosse Academic All American I have used my experience to help and to coach youth lacrosse players. I am very grateful for being awarded this scholarship through WASDA. This scholarship is helping make it possible for me to pursue a degree in civil engineering at The University of Texas, as well as join their lacrosse program as well as continue to volunteer teaching youth lacrosse. I plan to use my degree in civil engineering to impart my ideas into the world and help to build a better future.

My name is Joslyn Bullington and I recently graduated as valedictorian of Yorkville High School, located in the suburbs of Chicago, IL. Next year, I will be attending the University of Alabama with a major in mechanical engineering. I am also a member of the Randall Research Scholars, an amazing program that will provide me the opportunity to learn computational skills and conduct research alongside UA professors. During my time at UA, I also hope to get the chance to study abroad and complete a minor in Spanish, as well as get involved in campus activities like intramural sports.

Hello! My name is Morgan Butcher and I will be attending Ball State University this fall to major
in Japanese Education. During my time at college I hope to continue my hobbies of art and
music through various campus clubs provided as well as work at the campus library. In July
2023 I will visit Japan for two weeks and I also hope to study abroad there for a semester during
my junior year. Since I already have my ICC under my belt, I am hopeful that I will be able to
graduate in three years and begin my career as a high school Japanese teacher. I am excited to
learn about a new language and culture, as well as make life-lasting memories on this next
adventure in my life.

Hi I’m Kayleigh Ridley! I graduated from Mcminn County High School and I was involved in National Honors Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and FCA. I was also the captain of my soccer team. I will be attending Bryan College in Dayton, TN to major in forensic science and further my soccer career. My goal is to become a crime scene investigator or forensic scientist. This scholarship will help my dreams become a reality!
