WASDA Scholarship Fund
General Information
In 2015, WASDA began offering two scholarships through the WASDA Scholarship Fund. The WASDA scholarship provides educational funding to the children or grandchildren of all WASDA member companies (both Distributor and Associate). Additionally, WASDA offers scholarships exclusively to the children/grandchildren of Distributor members through the Matt Stager Memorial Scholarship. Each scholarship will award multiple students each year; the number of available scholarships will depend on the number of applications in that given year. Both scholarships are renewable up to three years, should the students meet GPA requirements. Note that individuals may apply to both scholarships but can only be awarded one of the scholarships.

Program Description
The WASDA Scholarship Fund is designed to give students of WASDA member companies support in pursuit of achieving their higher education goals. Awards of $1,000 are available to qualifying applicants.
Scholarship applicants will be evaluated and the scholarship recipients will be chosen by an independent selection committee. The children and grandchildren of the selection committee are not eligible to apply during the committee member’s tenure.
The Selection Committees consider each application but will select recipients solely on objective standards related to the purpose of the scholarships.
The applicants will be evaluated on the following objective standards:
- Academic performance
- Recommendations made by instructors or other persons unrelated to the candidate
- Extra-curricular activities, awards, and leadership contributions
- Standardized test results designed to measure ability and aptitude for higher education (optional)
- Candidate’s rank in school (optional)

Scholarship recipients are free to select any course of study, but please note preference will be given to those who seek studies in the following areas: engineering (civil, mechanical, software), business management including finance and accounting and industrial distribution.
Scholarship Types
The WASDA Scholarship Fund offers two scholarships exclusively available to children or grandchildren of employees from WASDA member companies to provide assistance in achieving their higher education goals:
1. WASDA Scholarship
The WASDA Scholarship is open to students who are in their last year of high school and are the children or grandchildren of employees of both Distributor and Associate Member companies of WASDA.
2. Matt Stager Memorial Scholarship
The Matt Stager Memorial Scholarship was established pursuant to the request of the family of the late Matt Stager, one of WASDA's past presidents, to provide assistance to children or grandchildren of employees from Distributor Member companies of WASDA.
